Welcome to - Z -

When high school senior Zoe is tapped to give a back-to-school speech in the aftermath of a deadly shooting, she finds herself awakening to life-changing truths about man's inhumanity to man. Z is now available at Lulu.com for in print for $10 USD, and as a download for $2. The print and digital versions include twenty pages of concept art and extensive writer's commentary. http://www.lulu.com/product/paperback/z/15262874 Z is also available for free at our website: www.peardream.com Z is the first title created under the Pear Dream banner, which consists of the same writer/artist team that produced Cerulean Sky and Oyster Choke. We think Z represents a creative step forward, and we hope it finds its intended audience.

» 800!

Wow, Z has reached 800 fans! Angela and I are very grateful to all of our fans and readers! Angela is busier than ever with her doll-making and doll-customization business No Nap Time, and I've been busy with various projects and a (relatively) new job.

I'm currently exploring the idea of a "remastered" edition of the first (and only) completed volume of our earliest collaborative comic endeavor, a project dating from 2005-06, which might see the light of day in 2013.

If you enjoyed Z, please share it with your friends.

» Z available in Austin, TX - part 2!

The print edition of Z is now available at Dragon's Lair in Austin, Texas. The print edition contains 20 pages of bonus art and extensive writer's commentary. If you're a Z fan from Austin, we hope you'll consider buying a copy!

Because Austin Books & Comics takes work from local creators on a consignment basis, this represents our first sale to a comics retailer, which is exciting in its own right. We'd like to thank Alan at Dragon's Lair for his help and kind feedback.

» 700!

We are pleasantly surprised to find that Z, a comic long since completed, continues to be discovered and enjoyed by enough new readers to reach 700 fans. Thanks to all our readers, fans and commenters!

» Z available in Austin, TX

Z is now available at Austin Books & Comics in Austin, Texas for $10. The print edition contains 20 pages of bonus art and extensive writer's commentary. If you're a Z fan from Austin, we hope you'll drop by and pick up a copy! We'd also like to thank Katy of AB&C for taking the time to field all my questions about the local comic scene. She's a comic creator herself, and her work can be found here.

Today sees the end of our turn in the Comic Spotlight. Thanks again to kuroi_hitsuji for the nomination, and to all our readers--old and new.

A few of you have told us that Z was a little mind-blowing, and one of you even said that it made you cry. We're so glad Z has affected so many of you!

Don't forget that a $2 eBook (PDF) version of Z is available on Lulu, which includes 20 pages of bonus art and 14 pages of in-depth commentary. If you're the comic-buying type, we hope you'll consider Z!

» 600

As our turn in the Comic Spotlight section draws to a close, we hit 600 fans. This has meant a huge jump in the comic's visibility, an influx of thoughtful comments, and even seemed to be the reason for a couple of book sales. Sincere thanks go to everyone who has been a part of this second wave of interest in Z. It has also been cool to have familiar faces drop by again.

Jason (the writer) has recently launched a blog devoted to helping other visual storytellers develop their own work.

Angela (the artist) has been hard at work on her new enterprise making and customizing dolls.

Several scripts for subsequent comics are ready to go, but it will be some time before the next work is complete.

» Comic Spotlight

We could not be more pleasantly surprised to find that Z, six months after the conclusion of its run, is currently being featured in the Comic Spotlight.

We were very lucky that we were among the first authors to make use of the new "Completed" Search category, which meant that Z appeared on the front page of search results for this new category. This brought several new readers to the comic, one of whom decided to nominate Z for the Comic Spotlight. Big thanks go out to kuroi_hitsuji.

If anyone would like to delve deeper into the story, a special edition is available as a $2 download at Lulu.com. This edition features twenty pages of supplemental art and extensive writer's commentary. The commentary does not provide a definitive interpretation of the ending, but it does provide scene-by-scene insight into the overall intent of the story.

Thanks to all our readers, old and new!

» 400!

When the run ended, we had something like 380 fans. Yesterday we reached 400. However, the count continues to fluctuate, and we have dipped below 400 again. Still, just hitting a new something-hundred milestone at all seems like a good excuse to show a little gratitude to our readership.

We are extremely flattered to find that people continue to add Z to SJ favorites, even five months after this relatively short work completed its run.

Angela has recently had some exciting successes in amigurumi/crochet, so work on new comic projects has taken a back seat to doll-making for the foreseeable future.

It may be a long while before we release any new comic material, but we're still here, and haven't called it quits. Thanks again for all the support.
